The Underpayment Specialist / Behavioral Health Substance Abuse

Classification: Full-time

Reports to: The Underpayment Director and Underpayment Manager

Job Overview: The Underpayment Specialist will be responsible for researching pricing details on a paid claim by reviewing the EOB or having to call the insurance carrier. The Underpayment specialist will need to have strong negotiation skills to ultimately get the best price for the services provided. The underpayment specialist will have good communications skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Experience with medical or behavioral health claims (required)
- Experience working on Provider Portals (required)
- Experience working on Underpaid claims (ideal)
- Experience working on Google Sheets (ideal)
- Work in a team environment
- Be comfortable calling insurance carriers
- Analyze and research underpayments with payers
- Initiate appropriate action on underpaid claims
- Be able to work on special tasks outside of a day to day schedule
- Must follow HIPPA guidelines and Protected Health Information.
- Work Efficiently and maintain production.
