I'm hiring an Estimator for my commercial construction company in Baltimore, Maryland. The Commercial Construction Estimator will provide support to project management staff and superintendents on commercial construction projects in a variety of industries.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and thoroughly understand architectural drawings provided by client
- Extract takeoffs from architectural drawings
- Derive a well defined scope of work from the client.
- Produce RFIs for client.
- Use RS Means to create an estimate
- Coordinate and manage requests for hard bids with subcontractors.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors.
- Detailed review subcontractor bids to ensure that their bid meets the requirements of the scope of work
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working for a US based construction company and project management background HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Possess a solid knowledge of plans, specifications, and other project-related documents.
- An understanding of the construction process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in person.
- Ability to problem solve, generate, and maintain tracking lists.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple assignments through to completion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Competent with project management software and computer
- Paid weekly
- 13th Month/Christmas Bonus (pro-rated based on start date)
- Pay raises awarded based on performance
- For every month that you work, you will receive one paid day for sick/vacation leave (12 Days per Year)
- 6 paid holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve (6 Days)
