Javascript Developer

Note: We have set the salary for this job as negotiable because cost is NOT the primary factor in d ---------- who to hire. Please state a salary you feel comfortable with for at least 1 year. Please do not state a salary that is too low for you just to be considered for the job.

We are hiring a JavaScript developer to work on several different projects. Full-time is preferred, but we will also consider candidates who are available at least half-time. The position is meant to last at least one year with the possibility to extend much longer. This position is 100% remote work, and you can be located anywhere as long as you have high-speed internet access. You will need to coordinate your work with other tea ---------- mbers and attend meetings several times each week. Otherwise, your work hours can be fairly flexible. The position can start as soon as our selected candidate is available.

We are a small company (less than 10 people) that helps non-profits use technology. We will be building a team of 5-6 total developers (in the Philippines) over the next few months, and this is the first position we are hiring. The team will be working on multiple different websites based on WordPress, Buddyboss, WooCommerce, as well as some other types of projects.

We care about having a cooperative team that works well together and has good communication. The ability to work well in a team, provide good source code comments, participate in testing, adapt to a shared approach around coding conventions and deployment, being patient with other tea ---------- mbers, being willing to work together to solve technical and non-technical issues, and other team-related skills are all very important.

We also care about all tea ---------- mbers feeling valued and respected. We want to build a good environment where people like working with us and with each other. Productivity is very important as well, but we do not expect extra-long hours of work.

The JavaScript developer will work on the following aspects of our projects:
- developing custom JavaScript components (especially form elements) for WordPress websites
- developing custom Chrome extensions
- developing user interface components to extend the functionality of Chart.js
- developing simple desktop applications using Electron.js
- helping to resolve JavaScript-related conflicts between different WordPress with each other and with our custom code
- helping to plan, design, and build some web services we would like to create
- helping to brainstorm new ways we can improve the websites and tools we are building
- other projects to be determined

If the JavaScript developer can also help out with other aspects of our work (WordPress development, small amounts of system administration, user testing, stuff like that) that would be helpful, but it is NOT required.

Required Skills:
- very good JavaScript skills
- experience with some type of JavaScript framework
- experience with some type of source control system
- good at source code comments
- willingness to adapt to coding standards set for the team
- experience working with a team
- good written and spoken English (does not need to be perfect, but does need to be good)

Nice-to-Have Skills (These skills are NOT necessary. If you do have additional skills outside Javascript and want to work on other parts of our projects too that is OK.):
- React JavaScript framework
- WordPress experience
- PHP experience
- git/github experience
- experience with Google Chrome extensions
- experience with a broad range of JavaScript libraries

- experience with Electron.js
- experience with Chart.js
