Job description:
• Analyse financial data related to loan requests.
• Evaluate loan documents to ensure accuracy and completeness (including assets and liabilities) prior to closing.
• Review the Initial loan decisions to ensure correct rates and terms are disclosed to the borrowers.
• Perform risk assessments on potential loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risks
factors.
• Evaluate income calculations using the information provided by the borrower including self-employed borrowers.
• Analyse bank statements to uncover any cash flow problems or undisclosed debts in order to ensure the success of the loan.
• Complete the loan file and ensure that it meets all federal and state regulations and prepare the file for the closing department.
• Attend meetings from time to time to help facilitate learning, communication, and understanding with other employees in order to ensure policies and guidelines are being met.
• Update job knowledge on types of loans and other financial services
• Assist in day-to-day operations
Skills:
• Proven working experience as an Underwriter.
• Knowledge of loan processes and documentation is a plus
• Applied knowledge of underwriting fundamentals and standard industry practices
• Understanding of basic financial principles and processes
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Self-motivated and deadline-oriented
• Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
• Strong proficiency in computer programs, especially Excel and Word
• Possess a can-do attitude with an eagerness to contribute ideas and execute team initiatives
• Knowledge of MS Office applications, Dropbox, Trello
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday
8 AM to 5 PM Pacific Standard Time
