Hi,
We're looking for a developer to create a web app that connects to twitters API and can favourite tweets based on your inputs such as hashtags, how many followers the person has, which accounts they follow, geo location etc. It then needs to unfavorite the tweet 3 days later (optional tick box)
You MUST have experience with twitter web app development and the twitter API console. This is what matters to us for this project: dev.twitter
To give you a better idea of what we need, I've listed 2 apps below that do this already, but neither of them do it REALLY well.
First one: twitfox which if you create an account and login (free trial) or just read the website, you'll see is very basic but gets the job done. It doesn't give you many options, you have to use Twitter's own advanced search operators. This is what twitfox links you to :
support.twitter.
I find that to be annoying and not a great UX. The filters need to be user friendly as we're not just targeting marketing pros here, we're targeting self taught marketers and small business owners who are tech savvy.
On the other hand there is Tweetfull - THIS TOOL is what we need to be more like in terms of functionality.. but we'd need a much nicer, cleaner UI/UX
tweetfull (Watch the video as it will show you what exactly what we are trying to achieve with this tool)
It has more features that twitfox but they don't work very well, we've tried it. Also we really don't like the design of it.
I'll personally be designing the website and landing pages so please don't factor that in. We also have a VPS for this to be built on initially, then we'd move it over to a dedicated server optimised for web apps.
What we're looking for is:
1. An amazing developer (with twitter API experience) to develop the system.
2 Also someone to design the full UI/UX. I think this will be two separate people. If you have worked together in the past this would be ideal. Whether it's the developer who recommends the UI/UX designer or the other way round we don't mind. We would need to see portfolio work though.
I'm ideally looking for someone to give me a price on how much it would be to build, and then also, I would need to hire the same person to look after the app, fix any bugs, ensure we're secure, apply new features as we come up with them.
The candidate should be used to using twitter's API as that's what we'll need to use. Twitter can be very funny about these tools and favour some companies over others. For example manageflitter they had to change things but still they have an awesome system that no one else can make anymore as twitter won't allow it. Unless we can change things.
The Main functions of the app (if you have looked at the links I sent twitfox and tweetfull)
- A Twitter Web App hooks up to twitter's API.
- Needs to be able to favourite certain likes based on filters set by the user. For example (active accounts, influencers, certain hashtags, times, people who follow specific accounts, the list goes on, and this will be confirmed before the project commences. At the very least we'd expect to have targeting features similar to tweetfull watch the video as that has all of the features we'd need.
- Ideally have an extra feature that neither of the others have, this could be something like a nice PDF report generator.
- Needs to be fast, user friendly and a minimalistic design that focusses on ease of functionality
- You must have worked with the Twitter API before - this will be a hurdle you'll need to work around because we will have limited twitter API call-ups so it needs to be coded in a clever way to minimise these.
see: dev.twitter
- Bonus if you know a good UI/UX designer who you've worked with so you can work together
-
We're looking for an idea of how long this will take to develop, we have a pretty good idea of how long it would take a good developer but we'd like to see your costings, ideas, and if you are a web app developer and know a great UI/UX designer, someone who you've worked with in the past, that would be a huge bonus as we could hire both of you to work on the project and then keep you on board as the app grows.
We're a marketing agency so we'll be able to gain traction for it very quickly and get users on board fast. This will mean a full-time job for the developer and designer. We're planning to roll out multiple web apps over the next year.
