School Nurse

Specific Tasks

1. Administers first aid or emergency treatment to sick/injured student or employee.

2. Assists the school physician and dentist during regular consultation periods, in annual physical and medical examination and in the treatment of patients.

3. Assists in the implementation of the health program which may include providing immunization, coordinating with drug companies, facilitating the conduct of water analysis, inspecting the canteen, comfort rooms, and school surroundings regularly to ensure sanitation, and posting health bulletins.

4. Gives health advice or counseling to students and employees to encourage a healthy lifestyle and prevent more serious illness.

5. Keeps and maintains an orderly and systematic filing of health records.

6. Maintains clinic equipment, adequate clinic supply, and the general cleanliness of the clinic.

7. Coordinates with other health personnel on proper sanitation practices or disseminates information to promote health and safety consciousness in the school.

8. Assists in the preparation of reports required by the school and government agencies.

9. Performs other tasks as may be assigned.
