Here's what we need for a basic SEO configuration:
PHASE 1:
Keyword research: Suggesting and setting up keywords around client's business (we can give 3-4 focus keywords, he'll need to provide us the available options).
Meta tags configuration: Configuring the finalized keywords on respective pages, and configuring description relevant to each page.
Check site's visibility to search engines (robots.txt configuration)
Check if sitemap.xml is properly configured to cover up all the urls needed.
Check for proper configuration of facebook, twitter and G+ sharing. (image and description)
Configure a keyword(s) for each page to check it's density.
Submit site on for indexing on search engines- google, yahoo and bing primarily.
Configure google analytics.
PHASE 2:
Second phase involves the following:
On page content optimization - checking and configuring h1-h5 tags, checking and configuring title and alt tag for images.
Checking if the site has any broken links, and fixing/getting it fixed as required.
Checking for proper error pages (404 etc).
