ENGINEERING & DOCUMENTATION ASSISTANT
VersaPile Inc. is a friendly and professional deep foundations contractor located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada and specializing in helical piles, ground screws and shoring for commercial, heavy residential, industrial, institutional, utility, agricultural and infrastructure sectors. VersaPile has been growing steadily year over year and now requires a full-time Engineering and Documentation Assistant to join its team. VersaPile’s team consists of 25 people and has a virtual accounting assistant from the Philippines who has been with the company for more than a year.
Primary Job Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Engineering and Documentation Assistant is to support the primary administrative tasks of the engineering department to increase the capacity within the department to complete their work efficiently and effectively. The primary administrative tasks within the engineering department include, but are not limited to:
• Review construction/estimation packages to identify and highlight all areas which are relevant to estimating helical piles, ground screws or shoring;
• Prepare shop drawings of helical pile, ground screw or shoring details using CAD when required;
• Prepare detailed and clear pile layouts with key measurements to assist the installation crew with accurate placement of piles when on-site;
• Convert data from field piling reports and input into final pile report template; and
• Other technical or administrative duties as reasonably assigned.
Key Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of geotechnical design, deep foundations / piling as it relates to the overall construction of buildings and possess the following qualities:
• Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant technical discipline such as drafting, construction, architecture, engineering, etc.;
• One or more years of experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings in English;
• Strong competency drafting and revising shop drawings in CAD and an ability to create detailed and clear pile layouts;
• Ability to work non-traditional hours in order to overlap at least 3 hours of the working day with VersaPile’s business hours which are 8am to 5pm Central Time (Winnipeg, MB, Canada);
• Strong written communication in English with functional conversational English; and
• Possess a computer with CAD software that is appropriate for opening and reviewing large construction documents as well as a strong and reliable internet connection.
