This job role is for direct hire.
Labor Relations Specialist
BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist management in the speedy and objective resolution of disputes between workers and management staff, negotiate in collective bargaining agreement when necessary, and coordinate grievance procedures to handle employee complaints.
JOB DUTIES AND TASKS
1. Investigate and evaluate employee complaints or arguments to determine viability.
2. Present the position of the Company to the labor force during arbitration or other labor negotiations/meetings.
3. Schedule or coordinate the details of grievance hearings or other meetings of such nature.
4. Assist in the development of health and safety policies and other aspects of the CRR related to employee welfare.
5. Prepare evidence for disciplinary hearings, including preparing witnesses to testify.
6. Monitor company or workplace adherence to labor standards and the CRR currently in effect.
7. Assess risk level associated with labor negotiation strategies.
8. Assess the impact of employee proposals on company or government operations.
9. Identify alternatives to proposals of employees, companies, or government agencies.
10. Advise management on matters related to the administration of contracts or employee discipline or grievance procedures.
11. Call or meet with employee representatives, management, government or other interested parties to discuss labor relations matters, such as contract negotiation or grievance.
12. Interpret contractual agreements for employers and employees engaged in an all labor relations processes.
13. Mediate discussions between employer and employee representatives in attempt to reconcile differences.
14. Prepare and submit required government reports or forms related to labor relations matters, such as equal employment opportunity (EEO) forms, new hire forms, and other compensation reports.
15. Prepare reports or presentations to communicate employee satisfaction or related data to management.
16. Review employee disciplinary actions, such as written reprimands, suspensions, or terminations.
17. Review employer practices or employee data to ensure compliance with contracts on matters such as wages, hours, or conditions of employments
18. Research case law or outcomes of previous case hearings.
19. Recommended mediators or arbitrators for labor disputes or contract negotiations.
20. Develop methods to monitor employee satisfaction with policies or working conditions, including grievance or complaint procedures.
21. Assist in training managers or supervisors on topics related to labor relations, such as working conditions, safety, or equal opportunity practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Political Science, Social Science or related course.
• Minimum 2-3 years related experience
• Exposure to other aspects of HR functions (Recruitment, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Services, Performance Management etc.) would be a distinct advantage.
