JOB OVERVIEW

Finova is an accounting and finance start-up providing automated bookkeeping, accounting, reporting, fractional CFO and advisory services to small businesses utilizing cloud-based solutions and app stack (QBO, Dext, Fathom, Wagepoint etc.). Finova is looking on bring onto its team a developer to assist in the design, development and implementation of its customer platform. The Developer will assist in the following:

• Design and develop core product starting first with a comprehensive understanding of what is to be developed;
• technology stack selection, security, strategizing development process;
• Build Product Prototype;
• Possess technical skills around full stack coding languages to ensure the development process remains sufficiently flexible to achieve strategic outcomes;
• Implement reliable development best practices;
• Manage and monitor deliverables to ensure best practice outcomes and building blocks that are agile and flexible;
• Sufficiently skilled in developing APIs to integrate with other apps;
• Driving performance, efficiency and effectiveness with respect to the development;
• Rapidly iterate and test first version prototypes;
• Manage UX user experience requirements;
• Make architecture decisions to ensure a strong, stable, and scalable product;
• Independently work on building ancillary developments;
• Actively participate to improve the product;
• MVP development;
• Assuring Quality In Codes: complete knowledge of the entire system and perform quality assurance and testing before any release;
• Act As DevOps Engineer: act as the DevOps engineer and ensure the team follows the same culture for efficient operations and development work;
• Maintain & Updating Application Architecture: As the product scales, updates to the related architecture;
• Debugging: following initial MVP launch, troubleshoot bugs and drive resolutions;
• Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage;
• Aligning and providing feedback on the product roadmap, work closely with product to dUpgrade to see actual info on prioritization, resource allocation, and timelines;
• development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, strategic planning, design/architecture, execution, deployment, and maintenance;
• Building quality assurance and data protection processes, ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards;


Developer Requirements

• Experience working in an early-stage successful tech start-up;
• Some comprehension of finance and accounting principles and preferably prior experience working within the sector and exposure to Quickbooks Online;
• A strong product sense and can build engaging tech for customers;
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research;
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to share/collaborate with peers;
• Significant experience in software architecture and personally building digital products from early-stage through to scaling and maturity;
• Deep knowledge of full-stack modern development practices (ex: DevOps, APIs);
• Experience in project management to ensure timely deliverables;
• Prior experience for a startup;
• Have a proven understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations;
• An effective team-player who knows how to build and scale while remaining agile;
