Frontend Engineer for music tech startup

Qrates removes all financial and inventory risks and hassles, working with a network of quality vinyl pressing plants around the world for the fastest delivery and best pricing.

Qrates is seeking a Markup Engineer who will be responsible for implementing the user interface with web based technologies such as HTML/CSS and JavaScript. Duties include identifying and analyzing any bugs and errors found during the test phase and documenting them for review after. Other tasks include developing and running new tests, reporting on the results and collaborating with software developers to fix program issues.

The ideal candidate should be able to work flexible hours between Tokyo, Japan, and Eastern European time zones.

Responsibilities:


Implement the user interface with HTML/CSS and JavaScript
Lead the team in the implementing UI with a deep understanding of web browsers, device, and markup technologies
Understand the design intent, and to realize it perfectly including the element that cannot be expressed in the design
Practice code maintainability considerations and gradually eliminate technical debt in routine tasks
Recommend improvements in software to enhance user experience
Motivate the development process for efficiency and performance
Works together with the designer and the other part developer to enhance and improve programs
Research and compare similar competitor products
Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends and advancements

Requirements:


Extensive experience in software development and testing
Aesthetics and high ability to realize of user interface design and implementation
Strong knowledge of Linux and Docker environments
In-depth understanding of desktop and mobile web browsers behaviors, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript
Exceptional attention to detail, especially about user experience and user interface.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Great team player and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Able to sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time
