JOB OVERVIEW

Job Brief:
We are looking for a Proofreader who is proficient in grammar rules and understands how they are used within our style guides. Our ideal candidate is meticulous in reviewing copy, noting errors such as punctuation, spelling, and word usage. They should also be able to communicate effectively with the writers and other staff to ensure documents meet all company guidelines.

About us:
My company has been in operation since 1999, and we are constantly expanding our workforce. Over the last 10 years, we've had a lot of virtual assistants. My primary virtual assistant has been with me for 10 years. As of now, I have 56 full-time online employees.

We're seeking someone who is self-motivated, resourceful, a problem solver, and knows how to stay flexible and adaptable. Must be capable of completing projects on time with minimal supervision.

These are the most important tasks you will do on a daily basis. You must be open and comfortable doing this for a fixed 8-hour shift / 5 days a week. We operate 24/7 and you must be open to rotational shift work.

Responsibilities:

Read and evaluate written text for grammatical and typographical errors
Liaise with writers and editors to determine the composition of specific texts in a document
Compare typeset proofs against original copy to identify errors or omission

Use word processors and other specialized software to make changes on typeset documents
Evaluate the dimensions of page elements such as images, text spacing, and positioning to ensure they conform to set specifications
Ensure page numbers are in the right order and not repeated or omitted
Analyze documents to ensure chapter titles match the list of contents
Use symbols that are standard and recognized by printing and publishing companies
Mark corrections highlighted by editors/authors and ensure they reflect on the master set proof
Rephrase written text to ensure document structure and content are consistent
Stay abreast with grammatical development as well as new terminologies in a language
Ensure illustrations are suitably captioned and referenced
Contact authors directly to clarify grammatical inconsistencies related to style and text choice
Forward proofread materials for approval and publication
Ensure the project is completed within set time constraints.

Requirements:
BA/BS or equivalent working experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant experience
Familiarity with AP and other style guides
Fact-checking and research expertise
Good written communication skills
Ability to do some graphic design work
Detailed-oriented and organized
Enjoys learning new things
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic business ---------- monstrated problem-solving and consulting skills.
Ability to work remotely and independently.
Must have a good knowledge of current employment practices.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, GSuite and Hubstaff.
