JOB OVERVIEW

We're looking to add a back-end (PHP) developer to our small team. We offer websites as a service so we're responsible for all of our clients' websites, as well as our own. You will be responsible for the back-end technical work that needs to be done.

Responsibilities will include:
Troubleshooting technical issues
Editing or creating new plugins
Server management (we currently use WP Engine for some sites and GridPane for others)
Troubleshooting DNS and SSL

Required:
2 years WordPress development (PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS)
Excellent fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Excellent communication skills
Preferred: WordPress Multisite development
Proficient with the coding that runs WordPress
Experience editing/creating WordPress plugins
Experience working with MySQL databases
Excellent self-management and time-management
Ability to manage & complete short-term and long-term projects
Regular weekly availability during US business hours (Eastern time)

Preferred:
-Experience with WordPress Multisite

Our teaUpgrade to see actual infombers may reach out to you with questions or technical problems and you need to be able to work with them to help them as needed or resolve problems. Must value results and relationships. You should be an internally motivated, self-starter with exceptional ability to follow-through, follow-up and meet deadlines.

Here are a few examples of current projects:
* There is a problem when customers switch from one site design to another. Either the plugin that provides this feature has a problem, or there is a conflict with another plugin.
* We're currently using a WP plugin that handles the billing and website creation and it recently had a major update. We need to test migrating everything to the new version on a staging site. There are many things to check to make sure it will work properly.
* We'd like to understand why there is a large difference between how much traffic our host says our site receives versus what Google Analytics says.
* We are having callback issues with Stripe on one of our sites.

And then there are some longer-term projects like finding ways to streamline our customers' sites and our database so it's not taking up more space than needed, which affects how scalable everything is. The more space we're taking up and the larger the database is, the more things can start to slow down. We also need to see what we can do to improve load time for our sites. There will be times when we'll need custom plugins created.

Hours/Pay:
This position is part-time (approximately 10-15 hours/week on average, but with the potential for more, depending on your hourly rate and skills). We will supply regular, ongoing contract work (not as an employee).

Benefits:
* flexible schedule
* work from anywhere
* fun team environment
* steady work
* opportunities to grow and maximize strengths
* team and individual development

In your proposal, please answer the following questions:

* What experience do you have with WordPress development?
* Have you worked with WordPress Multisite?
* Are you willing to work during business hours in the U.S. (Eastern time zone)?
