IT Server Manager

QUX is looking for a passionate System & Server Administrator.

Job Description
- Install operating systems on servers, such as Ubuntu and CentOS
- Manage operating systems on server to maintain uptime
- Harden servers to attacks e.g. close unnecessary ports, use cloudflare to block ddos, use server rules to block ddos attacks
- Install and manage software on servers i.e. Apache, Laravel, PHP, MySQL, Wordpress, Ant Media, GIT, staging copies vs production runs, password servers, and supporting libraries
- Using virtual machines was necessary to make servers more cost-efficient
- Have flexible hours to respond quickly to downtime and repair issues
- Create server systems/diagrams that allow for support systems and the flow of data to be seen
- Research on equipment to present good, better, best options when making server decisions
- Use pre-existing server equipment to its best abilities in setting up and maintaining a server farm for a CDN
- Design cost-efficient server layouts that can perform well for end-users
- Have the ability to quickly scan logs and find pages causing crashes, users causing errors, etc.
- Can give feedback to developers when a problem arises due to code, e.g. calls per script
- Comfortable with SSH and remote logins
- Comfortable with encryption layers e.g. Hardware encryption, software encryption, embedded software encryption
- Understands how encryption handoffs work and encrypted databases store data e.g. MySQL hash and salt
- Works well in a team of cutting edge developers
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field.

Preferred Skills and Experience
- 2 or more years of experience as a Server and Systems administrator.
- In-depth understanding of technology systems in the enterprise.
- Excellent experience with operating systems on servers, such as Ubuntu and CentOS.
- Extensive understanding of collaboration tools, Apache, Laravel, PHP, MySQL, WordPress, Ant Media, and GIT.
