We are a cybersecurity content and services company based in North America. We are actively developing a content-driven information site and a services delivery business within the cybersecurity sector. Our target market includes consumers and small/medium businesses.

**WE ARE LOOKING FOR**

We are currently looking for a top-tier, experienced content writer to work with and support our writing and publishing team. This role will require the team member to apply their detailed and comprehensive writing, editing, source validation, and researching skills to the test.

We are looking for a future team member who thrives on responsibility, gets the job done the right way, and is eager to demonstrate their high-end writing skills. We are looking for an individual to become a valued contributor in the publication of valuable and useful cybersecurity information that is targeted and optimized to help small and medium-sized businesses along with the consuming public to successfully manage, respond to, and navigate the challenges of cyber threats.

Cybersecurity is our focus, so knowledge or expertise in this domain would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite. Current writers on staff did not have deep cybersecurity knowledge but were quick learners and are now high-quality authors on many cybersecurity topics.

More important are solid writing and research skills, fluency in English, underlying skills that help turn quality source information into even higher-quality and valued information to our target audience.

Our intent is that this individual will be a key member of our writing/editing/publishing team. Upon hiring, they will participate in an onboarding process to familiarize and educate them on our internal processes, including our writing and publishing workflows, use of the SurferSEO platform, and our project/content management platform, CLICKUP.

**HOW WE HIRE**

As you review the description, we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the role, our business, or our ---------- is very important to have a positive and productive relationship, especially since we see this as an investment in our new team members and our company. To improve the likelihood of a positive relationship, we use a managed onboarding process with all potential new members.

This process gives both of us an opportunity to work together before either makes a long-term commitment. It is good for us because if things progress positively, it is a natural onboarding onto our team; and if things are not quite working out, we both have a way to part as friends.

This opportunity will be a full-time position with the expectation of 40 hours per week. We may choose to start at 20 hours per week. If a probationary period is utilized, then increase to full time (40 hours/week) over a 20 to 45-day period as we go through the onboarding process. This is something that is generally discussed with those individuals that become part of our candidate shortlist.

This posting is for an initial audition. We will be selecting 3 to 5 candidates to hire for a paid test project. After seeing your work, we'll choose who to bring on to the team and begin our managed onboarding process.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

In general your role would be to do activities such as the following:

- Function as a primary writer for a content site focused on the cybersecurity domain. You will:

- Write articles as assigned by managing editor, copy-editor, and/or writing coordinator.

- Perform detailed research for article topics. Confirm research sources and source data used to support the article’s
content. Ensure that such data is factual, accurately sourced, and annotated with any required references to the
original source. This includes all statistical, technical or anecdotal data referenced and included in the article.

- Self-edit articles for content accuracy.

- Follow EDC article guidelines on article structure, style, tone, voice, reading level and flow.

- Review and edit copy to ensure correct spelling, grammar, and structure.

- Optimize content to ensure the article is predominantly in the active voice.

- Ensure content maintains consistency with the desired tone and style of EDC articles.

- Review and edit article content prior to submission to copy-editor to minimize unnecessary words or content that does
not effectively support the intent of the article.

- Utilize EDC’s SurferSEO access and review the article for SEO optimization and proper placement of keywords within
headings and the body.

**Hard skills we are looking for**

- Writing

- Factual statements or source data reference validation and attribution validation

- SEO optimization

- General or user-level knowledge of online management tools such as CLICKUP, ASANA, Trello, Monday, etc.

- General or user-level knowledge and experience with editing and SEO tools such as:
- Hemingway App
- SurferSEO
- Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, etc
