JOB OVERVIEW

A flexible and enthusiastic writer and puzzle maker, with a great eye and attention to detail, is required to join a prominent UK games business. The applicant will join a thriving team of remote workers, creating and marketing exciting new board game products to a worldwide audience.

Creative work will include (but not limited to):

Designing written “escape room” style puzzles
Writing story outlines and plots for our games including mystery's to solve, twists and cliffhangers
Create character profiles, biographies and backstories for each character in the plot.
Create and describe locations included in the plot.
Be able to write in different tones, and from the point of view from each character in the story
Writing content for our games including ”clues” (e.g. photos/jewellery/birth/death certificates or anything relevant) which help the player work out the game mysteries, puzzles and the ultimate ending.
Writing instructions on how to play and hint’s, tips and “how to solves” for puzzles and games.
Copy for marketing use. E.g. website copy, email copy, social media copy, video scripts etc.
Creating board game literature & props.
The applicant's creative ideas on projects are welcome and encouraged.
Attendance of regular team video meetings will be required.
Please note: we use time tracking software which will need to be installed on your computer and active during working hours.

The applicant must:

Have excellent UK English language skills (both spoken and written). All written work will be in English using UK spelling and grammar.
Be prepared to work during UK timezone (09:00 AM to 05:00 PM UK Time (GMT/BST) Monday to Friday).
Have experience creating immersive puzzles, clues, word games etc.
Be able to write compelling story outlines in a range of themes (e.g. horror, romance, thriller etc.)
Work must be unique and Copyscape checked and cannot be used for any other purpose. The employer will own all the work produced for them.
Have the use of Microsoft Word.
Have a fast and reliable internet connection.
Have a reliable, fast computer with adequate security software installed and updated. A working webcam is essential for tea ---------- etings.
Have good timekeeping and be able to work to strict deadlines.
Be able to use Slack, Trello, Zoo ---------- etings and Office 365.
Be very organised and methodical in their work.
Be able to work independently in a remote way with daily updates given
Be fun to work with

Please note basic sample work will need to be supplied to demonstrate key skills are understood.
