What we’re looking for:

TrouDigital wants to create a new piece of software that lets users easily create digital signage content via pre-set, animated templates.

Each template should be able to operate in both portrait and landscape formats. Templates can be edited through a variety of set options. These include: Colours for various elements on the screen (background, bars, text), text font (including capitalisation). Text should be responsive so that it automatically resizes based on the amount/length of text - this could be achieved through padding.

Greater automation could be achieved through company branding. I.e. user selects their brand colours/fonts (brand guidelines) in their account, and the templates will be automatically shown in this way.

Integrations:

The platform should integrate with other applications/sites for ease of use. These could be Canva, PowerBI, Google Analytics, Trust Pilot. The templates will pull data in via an API from these apps and display it in a clean visually appealing format. Some integrations may not require an API.

Back-end:

We would like the new template platform to feature a simple, easy to use back end. In the back-end, users can view available templates, view existing templates, manage their playlists and screens, and manage their account. We can also have a section called “Apps and integrations” this can highlight the apps/integrations we offer explaining what they can be used for and what they are.

We can add (or eventually add) a help mode, where when users hover over various sections of the software, a gif plays with some text explaining how to use the feature - similar to Photoshop. This could also be achieved through a simple text ---------- tomatic company branding options:
The main focus of this software is keeping content creation easy and simple, whilst ensuring the end product looks great! We believe this should be achieved through a fully automated solution. When creating an account users are asked to input their brand guidelines. This will include a font selection/type (for various heading sizes), Font colours, a logo, and brand colours - primary and secondary. As the user is setting up the guidelines, it would be good to have a preview template showing how it would look. Once saved, the templates within the software should appear featuring the new brand ---------- previous (similar) software, we found an issue with text. They were not built with various text lengths in mind. E.g. If the input text went over a certain character limit, it would spill into the design or off the Canvas (hiding text). We think a good solution to this is to have responsive text that automatically changes font size based on the length of text. This will also be determined by set padding parameters. This should allow users to input all the text they need, whilst keeping the content sexy.


Scalability:

Scalability is a hugely important feature for us. With our current software, users are able to add large numbers of screens/licenses to their network without long lead times. We would like the same feature on the new software. Users are able to add/buy more licenses for their screens and apply content to new screens ASAP (dependent on media player delivery).
