JOB OVERVIEW

REMOTE ACCOUNTANT (AVALON'S INTERNAL FINANCE OFFICER)

SALARY: Between 70,000 and 90,000 Peso per month depending on qualifications and experience
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years as a controller, or corporate accountant is required. Xero software experience preferred.
TRAINING: On the job training will be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will hold a CPA designation in their local jurisdiction
HOURS: 8am to 4:30pm (Pacific Daylight Time / GMT-7), 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: Canadian Public Holidays Apply
LOCATION: The candidate will be working from home
LANGUAGE: English
START DATE: Flexible or as soon as possible
REPORTING TO: Accounting Manager

We're looking for an accountant with solid bookkeeping experience to join the team and look after Avalon's internal finance function.

JOB SUMMARY
The Internal Finance Officer is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information as well as all statutory compliance filings (income tax, sales tax, payroll remittances, etc.).

This position requires accounting experience in a similar role and a CPA designation.  

We will also provide on-the-job training led by our approachable and supportive team.  Canadian tax and bookkeeping compliance knowledge is an asset, but not required.


JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaising with all areas of the business, working closely with management to provide quality financial information;
- Reconciling financial transactions each week and preparing reports as needed;
- Invoicing clients and collecting payments;
- Processing Accounts Payable and preparing associated payments and transfers;
- Processing and disbursing Employee Expense reports;
- Financial reporting and profitability analysis
- Managing Dext, Xero, and Payroll functions of the business
- Preparation and development of finance and management reports
- Strategic input into financial and business needs of the business;
- Prepare the WorkSafeBC return;
- Quarterly GST Filing;
- Preparation of Annual Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years experience in public or corporate accounting is required
- The successful candidate will hold a CPA designation in their local jurisdiction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Fluency in English (both written and speaking) is required
- Experience with Canadian accounting and tax system is preferred but not required
- Experience using Xero would be beneficial
- Experience using various cloud based software would also be beneficial
- The ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines is also a requirement
