JOB OVERVIEW

Summit Communities began in 2009 as a property management and
investment firm. We specialize in acquiring and managing vintage 60,70's
and 80's apartment communities. We currently have many Philippino employees who work from home have been employed us since 2013 . We currently manage a portfolio of 1500
units and plan to double that number over the next year.
Situation:
• Currently the Accounting duties are split between a Managing
Partner, two Back Office Bookeepers and an outside CPA
• The current practices are reaching the limits of scale, with particular
strain around monthly Financial Reporting.
• Summit would like to mature its process for finalizing monthly
financial reporting and fraud prevention
• We currently use AppFolio for our accounting system and are
considering upgrading to a more robust system and this role will
facilitate that change.
• We expect all of our existing resources will stay in the same role with
the exception of the Managing Partner duties that will be transferred
to the candidate hired for this role.
• We are always seeking debt and equity (outside capital) and often
need an extra set of eyes to look over what we put in front of
investors.

Position Description
The successful Accountant will be able to maintain accurate (audit ready)
financial records. He/she delivers work product on a timely basis based on
the investor's requirements. He/she quickly responds to client questions
and requests (in order to continue to demonstrate the importance of each
and every investor). He/she deftly manages these demands across
numerous investors and proactively communicates with existing staff.
Overall, the Accountant will be responsible for overseeing dashboard
reports to include:
• General Accounting
• Cash Flow Forecasting
• Customer Invoicing, revenue accounting, and revenue recognition
• Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Expense Reporting, Payroll
• General Ledger accounting (fixed assets, accruals, equity)
• Account Reconciliations (cash, inventory, fixed assets, and other balance
sheet accounts)
• Developing, documenting, and improving accounting policies and
procedures
• Monthly Financial Package Preparation
• Financial Planning and Analysis
• Financials variance analysis
• Assist with preparation of the CFO Financial Package and Summary
• Cash forecasting & update financial models

The candidate will be in a "thought leadership" role and be responsible for
delegating work to existing Upgrade to see actual infosired Outcome
The candidate will work with our Managing Partners to eliminate any
concern of the accuracy, reliability, security, and thoroughness of our
financial records. They will proactively analyze and interpret outcomes to
integrate our historical accounting with forward looking forecasts so we
focus our efforts in the right Upgrade to see actual infosired Experience
• At least 4-5 years of solid, progressive accounting experience
• Experience with full cycle accounting
• Detail oriented and strong organizational skills for handling multiple client
companies simultaneously
• Accounting degree desired, CPA designation definitely a plus
• Resman, Quickbooks, AppFolio, Yardi (and other Real Estate Software)
experience, Microsoft Office suite -- specifically Excel
Required experience:
Accounting: 5 years
Job Type: Open to Full time/Part-time/Fractional 20-30 hours/month
depending on growth.
