JOB OVERVIEW

DropCommerce is looking to add a Content Writer/Social Media Manager to our small team. With this role you’ll be able to learn more about the e-commerce industry, further develop your English writing skills, and work fully remotely with a close-knit team!

About The Company:

DropCommerce is an innovative start-up from Canada that is changing the way people sell products online. Our software enables anyone (yes, anyone!) to begin selling products on their online store from the comfort of their living room. Simply install our application on your Shopify, BigCommerce, or Wix store, and you’re all set! You’ll be able to browse our selection of over 20,000 products from US and Canadian brands, and import as many as you want to your store. Once you make a sale, we pass off the information to the product suppliers, who then ship the items directly to your customer. No warehouse or inventory needed!

About The Role:

In this role, you will be the DropCommerce brand. You will be bringing the brand’s voice to life through your writing, and will be creating materials that will be read by thousands of users. If we send our users an email, publish a blog article, or send out an instagram post — chances are it will have been sent by you.

The main duties for this role include:

Writing clear and engaging e-newsletters and promotional emails
Writing and editing SEO-optimized blog articles
Moderating the activity within our small Facebook group — removing profane comments & spam, and responding to questions and threads
Creating instagram posts & stories and scheduling them to be posted
Logging and responding to reviews of our applications on platforms such as Shopify
Responding to Facebook group comments, Instagram DMs, and emails
Editing blog articles that are submitted by guest writers

The ideal candidate is able to:
Write clearly, concisely, and convincingly in near-perfect English
Work effectively in conditions of ambiguity, and low-touch management. We don’t like to micro-manage!
The ability to edit the writing of others, and recognize when and how writing can be improved. The words you write and edit will be seen by thousands of people, so make sure you can stand behind them!
The ability to design basic graphics for social media on platforms such as Canva, or the willingness to learn.
A basic or intermediate understanding of SEO and the following terms (backlinks, domain authority, keyword difficulty) and a basic understanding of how to optimize an article for a keyword, or the willingness to learn.

Bonus Marks:
Experience with SEO, copywriting, or blogging
Experience with customer service
Experience with graphic design
Experience in marketing, click funnels, or web design

Apps/Platforms you’ll use on a daily basis:
Sendgrid
Canva
Later
Shopify
Google (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
Intercom

Ideal Personality Traits:
Quick learner
Agreeable and friendly
Ability to teach oneself new tricks
Clear and communicator
Responsible
Ambitious (desire to move forward in career)

If you’ve read the listing and you’re interested in the position, please submit your resume and cover letter (optional) for our consideration. IMPORTANT: When submitting your application, please include the words “My Favorite Color is XXX” where “XXX” is replaced by your favorite color. The color will not impact your ability to get hired, but failure to include that sentence will be interpreted as a lack of attention to detail, and those candidates will not be contacted.
