Howdy!
I am currently looking to hire an all-star content writer to work with long-term.
As a writer on our team you won't just be writing 100% of the time, but you will also learn to update, edit, review, optimize, and publish articles written in English and targeting a US audience.
You will also need to be creative in order to create optimized, eye-catching titles and descriptions.
You’ll be communicating with our existing team of writers and eventually helping to hire and train new writers as well.
To give you an idea of what our company does, we primarily build and run content publishing websites with an SEO focus. This includes doing keyword research, ordering content from our writing team, editing, publishing and optimizing in WordPress, doing conversion rate optimization on pages with traffic, outreaching to other websites for backlinks, etc.
But don’t sweat the details just yet...
We have detailed training and onboarding processes as well as access to the top SEO courses to get you up to speed on everything you will be doing, so I don’t expect you to be an expert already.
Here’s the thing:
Above all I am looking for someone with a solid background in either writing or editing, with a great attitude, who takes responsibility for their work, and has a willingness to learn new things.
Additionally, our ideal candidate has:
- No other work obligations (we want your full, undivided attention for 40 hours per week)
- AMAZING written English (an absolute must to be at a near-native level)
- Solid spoken English and is comfortable getting on voice/video calls to receive feedback and training
- Strong attention to detail and likes to make sure everything is done to a high standard
- Great initiative, resourcefulness and is proactive in problem-solving
- A knack for quickly learning and mastering new processes and skills
- Common sense! We already have detailed procedures but you will still need to use your best judgment as you work
- A desire for being part of a small, but growing, highly effective team
- A vibrant creative side and is fun to work with
- A strong, reliable internet connection
Bonus points if you also have:
- Previous SEO experience
- Previous WordPress editing/publishing experience
- Previous customer support experience
A sample of what you’ll start off doing:
- Learning about the current best SEO practices and how to properly optimize webpages
- Publishing articles in WordPress (implementing what you learned above)
- Optimizing already published pages to follow our best practices
A sample of what you’ll eventually learn:
- Keyword research to prepare article briefs for writers
- How to hire and train writers and run a full-blown content production machine
- Detailed revenue reporting to identify opportunities to grow websites we work on
- Outreach link building to acquire backlinks to our websites from other quality sites
- Lots of other advanced marketing techniques related to running and growing profitable websites
We are a fully remote team. I’m from Texas living in Mexico City and my assistant of almost 3 years now is in the Philippines. She works during US business hours (though I’ve told her she doesn’t need to!) but you can work whenever you are most productive. We work and coordinate with various contractors and colleagues worldwide.
We are sticklers for good processes and high-quality output, and the majority of our time is spent working and collaborating in Trello, Google Sheets, Google Docs, WordPress, Slack, and Zoom.
We’ll stay aligned through weekly one-on-one calls and I’d like to have regular team calls with the three of us as well once you are up to speed.
