Job Description:
To provide creative and editorial support for POP’s creative team.
Join our team and help create original content for POP’s social media accounts and podcast by using narrative storytelling to empower BIPOC stories of resilience shaped by race, culture, and politics.
Who is People Over Plastic:
People Over Plastic is a BIPOC storytelling collective comprising of thought-provoking advocates, innovators, legislators, and artists whose mission is to inspire dialogue and influences culture. POP’s founders believe that nothing is as effective as inspiring POP culture by bringing BIPOC stories to life- and it’s our goal to find creative ways to do this.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
-Research and locate footage, photos, soundbites from large media archives
-Organize audios or videos according to scripts or instructions
-Maintain a material library
-Participate in brainstor
-Assist in selecting or highlighting recorded interview transcriptions for final cuts
-Identify social media quotes from interview cuts
-Provide assistance in drafting and editing podcast shownotes
-Assist with editing interview transcripts and/or scripts
-Assist with uploading materials to different channels
-Assist with other production deliverables, as needed
Requirements:
-Preferably with Journalism or Broadcast background
-Understanding social media trends and podcast production processes are a plus
-Keen interest in learning how to use video and audio to empower BIPOC communities and influence POP culture.
-A passion for Environmental Justice through storytelling, a plus
-Proven ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
-A true team player who brings passion to the table
-Can work in overlapping hours with PST
