JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a talented Operations Lead for our Publishing Company (Home-Based Position)

Scare Street is a horror publishing company based in Wyoming, U.S., dedicated to helping fellow horror lovers experience sleepless nights. ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking to hire a talented full-time Operations Lead for our Submissions department to manage day to day operations, create and execute content acquisition strategies, and make a lasting impact. The role will largely be spent on operations with the remaining time spent on high-level strategy.

You will be working closely with the content team and reporting to our CEO. Many of our teaUpgrade to see actual infombers have been with us for many years and our ideal candidate is looking for a stable, long term position where they can learn and apply new skills to see the immediate results of their hard work.

Submissions Department - We post an open call for any horror author to submit their short story for inclusion into horror anthologies. The goal of this department is to discover talented horror writers, acquire the licensing rights to their short stories, and publish the anthologies in e-book, paperback, and audiobook formats. KPI - We will be publishing 36 e-books, paperback, and audiobook anthologies in 2021. Your task is to make that happen.

DAILY AND WEEKLY TASKS
The average day and week will consist of a mixture of the following tasks:

Operations
• Post our open call invitation to websites and FB groups for writers to submit their short stories
• Manage editors, narrators, audiobook proofers, and cover designers: set deadlines, track status of milestones, and ensure KPIs are met
• Send contracts to writers
• Format manuscripts for e-book and paperback publication
• Setup and publish e-books, paperbacks and audiobooks
• Communicate with author regarding release dates, author copies and other inquires
• Provide feedback on cover designs and blurbs
• Provide status ongoing updates on a regular basis
• Adhere to and improve upon standard operating procedures
• Conduct interviews and auditions to hire new teaUpgrade to see actual infombers as needed

High-Level Strategy
• Ensure our 2021 goals will be completed on time or ahead of schedule
• Discover avenues to increase the amount of submissions
• Discover ways to improve editor acceptance rates
• Streamline communication with authors
• Optimize processes to improve efficiency
• Work in tandem with the goals of the marketing department to maximize readership

KEY SKILLS AND VALUES REQUIRED
• Embodies the values of ownership, accountability, growth orientation, team player, problem solver
• Fluent or Native English speaker (written and verbal)
• High attention to detail and quality of work
• High level of organization and ability to prioritize
• Ability to clearly follow instructions (whether written or recorded)
• High standard of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
• 2+ years of experience working remotely
• Proven ability to manage and lead a team
• Prior publishing experience in KDP and other platforms is a plus
• Positive attitude and a desire to work with a fun, high-spirited team

BENEFITS
Compensation: $640 - $1100 per month (or $4 - $7 per hour), negotiable.
Rate is dependent on experience and skills.

Full Time: 40 hours per week.
Some weeks may be 50 hours per week or include weekend work depending on the product launch schedule and can be minimized with proper project planning

Autonomy: Work whenever you want as long as you deliver the results.
After the initial training period and you’re in sync with the team, work whenever you want as long as you get the work done. You may need a 2-hour overlap in the afternoon to provide status updates to the CEO or to coordinate with teaUpgrade to see actual infombers at times.

Daytime Shift: Our operations team is based in GMT+8 in the same time zone as Manila.
You can coordinate with teaUpgrade to see actual infombers during normal waking Upgrade to see actual info more graveyard shift.

Stable: Many of our teaUpgrade to see actual infombers have been with us for multiple years (for good reason!)
Learn and Grow: As long as you show an aptitude to learn, we’ll guide you and provide resources for you to learn new skills and grow.
