We are looking for a full-time experienced, passionate, and creative Social Media Manager to join the team of Your Friend In Reykjavik.

Your Friend in Reykjavik offers walking tours and experiences in Reykjavik, Iceland, with over 1000 five-star reviews.

As our Social Media Manager and content creator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Social Media strategy of Your Friend In Reykjavik in order to increase our online presence and improve our marketing and sales efforts.

Perfectly written English is needed for creating our social media content and writing blogs for our website for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes, obviously in the friendly voice of Your Friend In Reykjavik.

You will need the necessary research skills to be able to gather the content relevant for people who love Iceland and suit the business needs of Your Friend In Reykjavik. An important part of the job is to be creative and be able to make interesting web content. That will include using stock videos and photos, editing videos (f.ex. creating short clips from longer videos for social media), written content, photos, and anything else to make our social media presence strong. Good organization skills are necessary for scheduling social media posts ahead of time. What we need is:

Video & photo editing skills
Excellent writing skills in English
Familiarity with web design, Wordpress and publishing
Experience in using software like Canva, Light room, Trello and more
Be able to use the Scheduling tool: Content Studio
Understand SEO and use Google ---------- and Facebook Insights
Define the most important social media key performance indicators (KPIs)
Good organization & time management skills
Great communication skills


We are looking for a person who has a passion for reaching people and providing valuable social media & blog content for travelers wanting to experience Iceland, its culture, and traditions.

Responsibilities:

Managing the day-to-day handling of all our social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and to a lesser extent LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and possibly Tiktok.

Adapting content to suit different channels, overseeing, planning, and delivering content across the different platforms.

Manage and facilitate social media communities by responding to social media posts and developing discussions on our Facebook page & group and relevant Social media ---------- t targets to increase brand awareness and increase customer engagement.


Monitor, track, analyze and report the performance on social media platforms using tools such as Google ---------- and Facebook insights and analyze competitor activity.

Monthly tasks would include:

Writing a monthly newsletter to the Your Friend In Reykjavik email list
Weekly writing of blogs connected to Iceland & Your Friend In Reykjavik for SEO
Daily social media posts on all our social media platforms
- Which can be scheduled ahead of time using the Content Studio software
2-3 posts to our Google My Business page per week
Responding and engaging with followers of our social media platforms
Monitoring the different Social media platforms to repurpose content relevant to our followers & Iceland
Researching relevant hashtags for Icelandic travelers
Researching and reaching out to possible partners for the
Your Friend In Reykjavik tours and experiences, Travel agencies & more
Writing short Ebooks connected to Your Friend In Reykjavik
Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies
