News Reporter: Early bird to work crime beat on US West Coast hours (5 am - 1 pm PHT)

We are a “hyper-local news organization” located in Washington STATE, on the west coast of the United ---------- this position you would work as one of our newsroom staff.

We’re looking for a JOURNALIST. You MUST HAVE successful experience writing news for print, radio, TV or ---------- gree in communications or journalism slightly preferred, and be eager to focus your professional interest in crime, mental health and the criminal justice system in the United States.

We're seeking someone who would want to get to know everything going on with our local police, county sheriff, city courts and county court. You would develop deep knowledge about the crimes, trials and some of the personalities around here.

You would monitor various crime-related websites and make requests (via email and website forms) of various agencies for details about arrests. You'd also search a website for photos and extract photos from some of the reports provided to us.

You'd write stories about various arrests and trials, and post them onto our CMS.

Ideally, you would occasionally also edit video materials provided to us and produce brief videos for some stories.

Part of your role would be to notify the editor about potential stories that require local engagement, either by adding them to a calendar or by email.

This is envisioned as a full-time, long-term position. You would typically work Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Philippines time. We would expect that this would be your only job.
