Estimator (wood frame construction)

Simple Homes is seeking an Estimator to join our team. This role will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for a variety of wood-frame residential construction projects ranging from small ADUs to large-scale multifamily developments. To do so, this individual will work closely with members of our architecture, engineering, and operations teams to generate accurate labor and material estimates for our scope of work.

We are looking for someone who can grow with our company as we quickly expand (we're on track for our second year of 1000% growth in a row). Our ideal candidate would be an experienced estimator with a passion for technology and continuous improvement. As a rapidly-growing startup, we also need someone who is energized by a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities
+ Review and analyze plans submitted by our customers
+ Submit RFIs as required
+ Coordinate material estimates including our full scope of work (framing, exterior trim/siding, windows/doors)
+ Develop labor cost estimates including both our work in the factory and in the field
+ Supply both our sales team and our customers with information on materials including availability and substitutions
+ Identify opportunities for continuous improvement - both in terms of process and technology.

Key Skills And Experience
+ 4+ years of experience in a similar role
+ Associates or bachelors degree in an AEC-related field preferred but not required
+ Knowledge of wood-frame residential construction strongly preferred
+ Experience with various estimating and quantity takeoff (QTO) tools
+ Knowledge of CAD platforms including AutoCAD and Revit preferred but not required
+ Exceptional written, verbal, and analytical communication skills including the ability to synthesize findings, present results, and provide instructions clearly and concisely.
+ Team player who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
+ Our dream candidate would have all of this plus some hands-on building experience (work as a contractor, framer, builder; not required!)
