Established in 2006, with offices in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and staff across the Philippines, Mapletree Media is one of the largest digital agencies and media owners across the South East Asian region. We are also owners of the leading online beauty media and marketplace platform : Beauty Insider.

As we are rapidly expanding across the region, we are searching for a seasoned Senior WordPress Developer to join our IT team to manage our marketplace platform.

This work from home role will involve you being responsible for both the front end and back-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins.

You must be excellent at woo commerce and e-commerce development and be able to demonstrate your abilities in this area, with an excellent portfolio especially pertaining to marketplaces or of a similar capacity.

Responsibilities:
• Uncovering & evaluating functional needs/requests, usability & audience understanding & suggestions, development of WordPress websites in accordance with approved design layouts.
• Writing secure & clean code for web applications, document code, concepts, business logic & logistics, implementation of SEO best practices, and performing necessary measures to ensure mobile responsiveness & quality assurance across common browsers & devices
• Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
• Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
• Work collaboratively & communicate effectively with Project Managers, other designers/developers within Project Teams, and with clients.
• Proactively troubleshoot issues & construct solutions related to project development requirements.
• Assist with debugging/development of bug fixes for day-to-day maintenance of BuildThis-supported applications.
• Manage server optimization and advising accordingly to your head.
• Development of new features under the guidance of your manager.
• Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
• Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.

WordPress Developer requirements and qualifications:
• Good understanding of front-end technologies and development, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery as well as backend development
• In-depth understanding of PHP, Ajax, MySQL/database management, jQuery, Javascript, API connections, WordPress technologies (themes & plugins), UI/UX knowledge & theory, information architecture, CSS3, HTML5, and SEO best practices for web development.
• Basic understanding of Laravel, or equivalent framework, Adobe Creative Suite
• Designing and implementing new features and functionality
• Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
• Performance Monitoring of all our website assets to make sure they are online, working correctly, and loading quickly.
