WordPress developer

We work exclusively with  smaller companies across the United States to develop, manage, and promote their websites.

We are looking for a Junior to MidLevel PHP/WordPress developer that is experienced with jQuery, MySQL/MariaDB, and would have entry level JavaScript experience.

The candidate will need to able to help our clients and company with five primary things.
1. Developing custom WordPress themes from scratch (
Please note: We utilize a customized framework similar to Genesis) guided by approved design prototypes (PSDs) from our team. There are some tasks and projects that won't have developed PSDs and you will be tasked with creating work from flat image mockups or  invisionapp or figma mockups.

2. Troubleshoot theme and plugin issues with websites we maintain.

3. Assist clients with theme or functionality changes. (i.e. advising on and configuring a plugin, adding a custom post type, updating the style of a theme)

4. Assist our helpdesk staff with more complex issues or provide additional client support during busy times.

5.  Helping our company with internal projects such multisite network maintenance, performance improvements and process documentation.

6. Complex Framework changes and rollouts to the websites/frameworks on the network. You will be tasked with being able to learn on the job in instances.

This role is  not client facing, so although excellent communication and customer service skills are a must, someone else on the team will communicate with clients on your behalf. Typically our founder or CTO.

The work we create is typically custom built on Wordpress, and will leverage our parent theme/framework we’ve custom developed for our clients. You will be critical for the updates to this system and other complex work at times.

Your role will start with site builds and getting to know our 2-3 client bases. Our sites are are straightforward, fast and easy to navigate.

Please note: All code is custom, no builder plugins or drag/drop themes.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Essential Qualifications:
• WordPress child theme development skills. Build themes from scratch and ability to use some drag and drop builders as needed for landing pages, etc.
• Experience with the WordPress plugin ecosystem — Extensive.
• Experience with WordPress MultiSite and Parent/Child theme setup
• Experience with jQuery, Javascript, PHP and databases. (MySQL/MariaDB)
• Basic graphic editing skills (cropping, resizing, light touching-up)
• Ability to work inside of Adobe Photoshop (PSDs)
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Willingness to learn supplementary/complementary skills as needed to support your job tasks
• Ability to have 4+ hours overlap with 9am-5pm EST working hours.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of domain registrations, cPanel/WHM, website hosting, CDNs and DNS
• Mac and Windows Knowledge

Pay, Benefits and Details:
• $300-900+ Monthly depending on bandwidth and skills demonstrated, etc
• Medical / Dental / Vision insurance (we cover 70% of employee cost)
• Performance bonuses
• 100% remote but need to have significant overlap with 9am-5pm EST workday.

We would prefer to build a remote team and do not want to work through an account manager. Our goal in 2021 is to bring on 3-5 people in a similar geographic area to work alongside some of our US based counterparts in development, marketing, and more.
