Web developer for Australian tech company

Hi there!

We are Astrepo, a Sydney and Manila based early stage technology company. We are about 2 months away from re-launching our proprietary event discovery technology, which connects users with local events they're interested in attending. We recommend sports, music, theatre, comedy and many more events to our users, based on their social media profiles.

We are after a strong, full-stack developer with start-up experience, and the hunger to help build a fantastic product. You may be more of a front end guy or more of a back end guy - either or both is fine. Your technical skills must be excellent, but more importantly, you must be inherently motivated, hardworking, and have the right mentality for a start-up; you lean towards 'doing' more than planning, you take the initiative, you solve the problem and you just get it done. Somehow, you just get 'it' done.

You will need to have experience building web application: using object oriented PHP, designing database schemas and optimizing database queries for MySQL, writing modular javascript, preprocessed CSS using LESS and be familiar with internet security concerns.
You will be able to pick up new techniques and technologies quickly and easily.

* PHP using the Cohesion framework
* MySQL
* Elasticsearch
* jQuery
* Require.js
* Mustache templating (for both backend PHP and frontend JavaScript)
* LESS
* Git

We integrate with many APIs including Facebook, Twitter, Google Places, Google Maps, Wikipedia and will be adding many more. We also interact with several ticketing sites.

For you this may be a part time or full time role. You can be based anywhere in the world and have the flexibility to work at any time of the day or night that you want. It's all about what you produce not how you produce it. Being based in metro Manila would be a big plus.

You'll get to work intimately with the 2 co-founders of the business. Adric and Tim both have strong experience in early to mid stage technology start-ups. Adric was a key cog in the development of Freelancer.com, rising quickly to Director level, having entered early on in the company's life and seeing it to IPO for $1B. Adric currently heads up the development team of another early stage technology company, based in Manila called Salarium. Salarium were recently winners of Seedstars World contest in Switzerland, taking home the $500 000USD prize.

Tim presently works in a management capacity with the leading hotel metasearch engine HotelsCombined, in a role that straddles the technology and business teams, in areas such as A/B experiments, website optimisations, competitor analysis, data science, relationship management, strategy and people management. Tim is also the Founder of GradTests, a provider of practice psychometric tests for uni students.
