Experienced Metalwork Detailer

The Client:
We are a leading metal fabrication business in Brisbane. We are a well-established business with plenty of variety of work including fabricating ornamental metalwork:
• Handrails
• Balustrade
• Architectural screens
• Perforated metal products
• Feature architectural products
• Steel structures
• Sunscreens
• Gates
The Candidate:
Formal Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor degree in architectural, engineering or similar qualification in drafting and detailing
Experience:
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in architectural metal work or similar drafting role in construction industry
• Substantial experience using 3D AutoCAD packages and / or Tekla
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings
• Ensure all drafting work complies with Australian standards and project specifications
• Provide detailed drawings showing all connections, member lengths, angles, mitres and similar details required for fabrication for workshop tradesmen
• Ability to check your own work to ensure it is 100% correct before issuing for review by others.
• Very high attention to detail
• Ability to provide detailed quantity take-offs from shop drawings for ordering materials
• Ability to provide detailed reports for Manager’s review
• Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook, Project and preferably, StruMIS
• Solid track record of continuous employment over the past 10 years
The Role:
• Reviewing Architectural drawings, Structural drawings and site measurements to prepare 3D CAD Shop Drawings
• Shop drawings will include:
• Overall marking plans showing set out and location on site. All to be referenced back to grid lines and RLs.
• Assembly drawings showing the complete fabricated part. This is to include all dimensions, angles, material sizes and similar.
• Detailed part drawings showing each individual member including cut lengths, hole sizes and locations, angles, material size and grade.
• Raise any RFIs (Request for Information) to the relevant internal Project Manager for clarification.
• You will be required to produce “For Approval”, “Construction” and “As Built” revisions of drawings taking into account any mark ups or changes required by the Project Manager or the Client’s consultants.
• Provide material reports listing the materials required for each job.
• Tender materials required for projects to local Australian suppliers. Once prices are received they are required to be reviewed and a recommendation provided on the most competitive pricing to the Project Manager.
• Upload and track the job progression through StruMIS project management software.
• Programme and track work progression through Microsoft Project.
• Coordinate workflow with the Australian Project Manager.
Please note that unlike USA, all Australian specifications are in metric so you must have experience in metric.
