Film Editor & Graphic Artist

Do you have a creative eye and have fun playing with video, manipulating effects in After Effects, and get satisfaction from making things just right? You will be responsible for assembling raw material into a finished product suitable for broadcasting. The material you work with may consist of raw camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. This is a key role in the post-production process and the your skills will determine the quality and delivery of the final product. You may be part of a team to achieve the desired end result, but will usually work alone.

You will be asked to carefully watch video several times to make sure that the images, sound, special effects and all other aspects of the work all fit together logically and accurately. You will also decide which parts of the work effectively convey a message and which parts are uninteresting or unnecessary and should be cut from the final product.

The ability to use Video Editing Software such as Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere.


Applicants must:
• Have your own computer with a high speed Internet connection
• Be contactable via Skype.
• Proficient working with the following software: Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and/or Adobe Premiere
• Have a minimum of 2 years experience in editing video


Most importantly, applicant must be able to grasp marketing concepts, have strong problem solving skills, and understand basic time management and motivation principles of taking everything one step at a time as they work towards meeting goals and starting each writing with the end goal in mind.

Tasks To Be Performed Include, But Are Not Limited To:
• Creating highlights from specific sports
• Cutting video for infomercials
• Creating and/or editing graphics
•

The process of work for an editor involves:
• Receiving a brief, and maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay;
• Assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer;
• Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer;
• Digitally cutting the files to determine the sequence of the film and determining what is usable;
• Creating a 'rough cut' of the program/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages;
• Re-ordering and tweaking the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video.

Additional work activities may include:

• Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and vision engineering and editing;
• Consulting with the director, producer and/or client throughout the post-production process;
• Familiarizing oneself with the style of specific directors;
• Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements;
• Selecting the most effective shot of a scene in terms of drama, story relevance or continuity;
• Writing voice over/commentary;
• Suggesting or selecting music;

Your role is essentially focused on technical aspects such as correcting faulty footage, grading/coloring, and adding special effects to finish the film or program.
