Role: Interviewer / Project Manager (40 hours)
Mission / Purpose
The Interviewer, who also serves as a Project Manager, is a key player in the book creation process. The questions the interviewer asks create the foundation of the books published by Leaders Press. The interviewer also stands as one of the client’s primary points of contact with Leaders Press, making professionalism, follow-through, and punctuality critical qualities for the role. Given the client-facing nature of this position, it is imperative that the Interviewer make Leaders Press responsibilities a priority.
The Interviewer reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer for Leaders Press.
You will receive training prior to starting your first project, and continuing on-the-job training to ensure you're off to a great start.
Anthology Interviews
The Interviewer may interview CEOs and other business leaders for any given anthology collection that Leaders Press has in progress, as needed.
The Interviewer must keep track of all scheduled calls, submit completed call recordings for transcription, review transcripts, and keep a spreadsheet for the project updated, all in a comprehensive and timely manner.
1:1 Book Projects
For individual book projects with Leaders Press, the Interviewer also serves as Project Manager and assumes a guide role, explaining the process to the client and where the client is in that process at any given time.
The Interviewer will be responsible for collaborating on an outline for the book, developing question sets based on that outline, sending those question sets to the client 3-5 business days in advance, and scheduling all interviews with the client.
During interviews, the Interviewer must be proficient at active listening, asking follow-up questions, and keeping the client on task.
Post interview, the Interviewer is responsible for submitting the recorded audio for transcription, then reviewing the completed transcript for errors before passing it along to the ghostwriter.
The Interviewer should stay in regular communication with the ghostwriter, making sure they have everything that they need from the client. You may also be expected to read the manuscript in progress and offer developmental feedback.
