JOB OVERVIEW

We are a “hyper-local news organization” located in Washington STATE, on the west coast of the United ---------- this position you would work as one of our newsroom staff.

We’re looking for a JOURNALIST. You MUST HAVE successful experience writing news for print, radio, TV or ---------- gree in communications or journalism slightly preferred.

We're seeking someone who would want to get to know everything going on in our local governments, schools and businesses – in our three cities and county, total population of about 290,000. You would develop deep knowledge about our governments, institutions, organizations and geography and help us to cover many more stories than we do now.

You would monitor various websites and social media to learn about public meetings, and draft brief news stories about them.

You would watch live and recorded city and county council meetings and draft news stories about what’s been discussed, using Zoom and other tools. You would also capture screen images to be used as photography that illustrate news stories.

You would read public document filings to get early notice about potential commercial real estate developments and new businesses.

Part of your role would be to notify the editor about potential stories that require local engagement, either by adding them to a calendar or by email.

This is envisioned as a full-time, long-term position. You would typically work Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. to Noon Philippines time. We would expect that this would be your only job.
