There is a potential for a long term relationship to help support the development of this product.

Currently the customer has purchased several Bluetooth scanners. They want to be able to track Bluetooth tags on equipment as they come into and out of an equipment yard.

Some of the things that are being tracked are vehicles and small hand power tools.

The scanner has its own software that connects to AWS IoT greengrass. The scanner is constantly sending scans of bluetooth devices in range of the scanner. The scanned information is sent to AWS where the customer takes that data and pushes information about devices to a 3rd party web application.


Here is the problem. The scanner is receiving signals every 10 milliseconds from any Bluetooth device in the scanners range, cell phones, earphones, computers or any other bluetooth device.
They receive up to 6 million sets of information each day. This is expensive to process and store all of that data in AWS.

The customer wants to build their own version of the Laird scanner software that filters, from an approved list, of what Bluetooth device information gets sent to AWS. The customer also wants that approved list to be able to be updated at a regular interval, every couple of hours if possible. The updates of the scanner software gets pushed to the scanner through the AWS IoT greengrass.
