JOB OVERVIEW

Product Researcher and Graphics Designer

We are a US-based small business that sells laser engraved gifts on the Etsy platform.

We are currently looking for a Product Graphics Designer to research trends and themes in products, and then come up with graphic designs that can cater to those trends.

For example: We sell an 8x10” wooden box. The box can serve many purposes, from storing old photos and memorabilia, to holding love letters or trinkets. As the Product Graphics Designer, you need to research on Etsy what are the popular uses for wooden boxes. Then, taking our 8x10” wooden box into consideration, you would come up with different designs that we can laser engrave onto the box lid.

Skills needed:

- Ability to research products to determine what is popular, and why.
- Ability to identify trends (mostly wedding)
- Have a good eye for typography and be able to come up with designs just based on use of fonts.
- Good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus.

This is currently a part-time position (10-20 hours per week); however, over time, we can convert it to a full-time position with more job responsibilities for the right candidate.

To be considered for this position, we will require you to do the following exercise:

Let’s use the 8x10” wooden box as an ---------- looks similar to this:

The first step is to go onto ---------- and search for popular box products that are selling well. (This is indicated with a “Bestseller” badge on Etsy.). Pay attention to why it is selling well, and who is the intended target market customer. Provide a list of those product URL links.

Next, in Photoshop or whatever graphics software you have access to, come up with different designs that can be engraved onto our 8x10” box that will also serve the same purpose as the products you researched. For each design, indicated what the purpose is for the design.
