The basics need to be known:

HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript. Understanding CGI/PERL would be a bonus. As well, understanding the shopping cart UltraCart.com would also be helpful since we would need to integrate our site with that shopping cart.

As far as "design" aspects, our website is "Direct Response" in nature and therefore, the goal is to keep the site simple, direct, easy to navigate and yet - professional looking since people are going to be paying money to purchase our products (nutritional supplements). Understanding this is the MOST IMPORTANT factor for hiring a webmaster. The ultimate goal is to create comfort, trust and a SALE!

Short term goal: Information will be given to the webmaster (articles, sales letters, etc.) and he/she will then design a landing page and upload it to the site. Sometimes, it will simply be "template" based and other times, more of a "custom" design will be required (i.e. product category changes).

Long term goal: We will need to redesign the entire site and make it more web 2.0, update it, make it more professional, etc. The MAIN sections that need to be redesigned is the root index page and the index page for each, individual product.
