ABOUT THIS ROLE

We're a web design and digital marketing agency in the U.S. looking for a part-time web designer who is an expert in Beaver Builder. If you’re a talented, creative, reliable, and experienced WordPress designer/developer with great attention to detail, we’d love for you to join our team!

The ideal candidate will be a skilled WordPress developer with experience in both the development and design of new websites, landing pages, etc., and ongoing website maintenance. We are looking for someone who is ready to hit the ground running and take on projects immediately with little to no training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position involves designing and building fully custom websites from scratch using Beaver Builder, creating landing pages, setting up online stores, and making content, layout, plugin, and functionality changes/updates to existing client websites.

You must be able to work from a set of hand-drawn design sketches (occasionally, there may be a PSD file to convert to WordPress) and make design choices independently, incorporating modern web design trends and best ---------- a nutshell, here’s what you will be doing:

* Set up, design, and build custom WordPress sites from scratch using Beaver Builder page builder
* Set up WooCommerce stores within a client’s website (only a few of our clients need this so it’s not the primary focus)
* Design and build landing pages for PPC campaigns using WordPress and/or Instapage
* Design and implement individual website elements to be used across websites
* Edit and/or add new features, plugins, and content to existing websites
* Select, adjust, crop, and compress images for use on websites
* Ensure that all websites are fully mobile responsive, quickly identify and fix any problems
* Perform browser compatibility assessments and testing before launching a new site
* Maintain existing websites, including testing and identifying technical problems, updating plugins, etc., and troubleshooting any issues
* Set up integrations (e.g., Stripe, MailChimp, SendGrid, CallRail) using API or Zapier
* Migrate websites from the development server to the live server on WP Engine, including updating DNS records and setting up Cloudflare

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To qualify for this position, you must have/be:

* At least 3 years of experience building mobile-responsive WordPress sites (with a verifiable portfolio), with at least one site built using Beaver Builder
* Experience setting up WooCommerce stores
* Good understanding of UX/UI and able to build best practices into a website
* Strong understanding of technical and on-page SEO
* Comfortable working with HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery
* Able to write clean, simple code as needed (rather than just adding more plugins)
* Comprehensive knowledge of WordPress plugins, including Gravity Forms and Advanced Custom Fields
* Experience using WordPress hooks and filters
* Able to resize, adjust, and compress images to minimize the impact on page load time without affecting appearance on page
* Able to implement code for online marketing campaigns such as SEO, PPC, and social
* Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
* Well-versed in site audit and optimization techniques for site speed and performance – familiar with Google’s Core Web Vitals and able to address any website issues that would affect meaningful performance metrics
* Excellent written English skills – all of our clients are based in North America so being able to communicate well with them via email is very important

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Familiar with the following communications and project management software or similar: LastPass, Slack, ---------- , Zoom
* Proficient in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console
* Experience using WP Engine or a similar managed WordPress hosting provider, and can set up Cloudflare to work with it
* Familiar with email marketing providers, particularly Mailchimp
* Experience building landing pages using Instapage or similar

* Are excited to learn new things and grow your skills (because there’s always a better way to do something and more to know)
* Are an independent type who can happily work on your own (with appropriate guidance) but also enjoy being part of a team
* Will roll up your sleeves and figure out tough problems on your own, but are willing to ask for help when you run into a problem you just can’t solve
* Are patient and flexible - our clients are bound to change their minds at some point and we'll have to adapt
* Always strive to communicate proactively and responsively, replying to questions or emails within 24 hours
* Want to be here for the long haul (We’re not interested in training you if you’re just looking for a short-term freelance job to bring in some cash or plan to go off and work for another agency once you’ve developed more skills - please don’t apply if that’s your goal.)

HOME-BASED WORK REQUIREMENTS

* Fast and reliable wired internet connection of not less than 5 Mbps
* Updated computer (desktop or laptop), excellent quality headset with microphone, and a working webcam so you can participate in team Zoom calls
* Quiet, private home office that’s free from noisy backgrounds or distractions
* We work on Apple Macs so it would be a plus if you use an iMac or MacBook

**IMPORTANT **

We are based in Arizona (we don’t have Daylight Savings Time so we’re on MST during the winter and PST in summer). You MUST be able to work a SET SCHEDULE where at least 1 hour each day is during our business hours (9 am – 5 pm Arizona time) so we can coordinate and collaborate on work. You can choose your own hours but if you cannot commit to a set schedule, please do not apply – that kind of arrangement will not work.

The position is part-time to start (15+ hours/week) with the intent to increase your hours as we bring on more clients, as well as opportunities for advancement. We are committed to providing continuing professional development as you build your career with us.

Salary will be dependant on your skillset and experience.

This is a work-from-home role. Our entire team is remote, with team members scattered around the world.
