We’re looking for a multi-talented, many-hat-wearing digital octopus to help us maintain hundreds of websites for our clients, to take a proactive and positive impact on their business.
A Bit About Us
We’re a digital marketing agency that works with companies large and small who look to us for all things online. We’re a tight-knit team, and many of us are working remotely. Our team is spread across the United States, Philippines, and India. We value an ownership mentality, we’ve got each other’s backs, and we pride ourselves on our company culture. We don’t micromanage, and we’re always looking for ways to do things better.
Role Overview
The reason we created this new position is so that we can be proactive rather than reactive on issues that arise with websites. We host over 400+ websites and are aware that over time and with updates sometimes websites break. We want you to look through all our sites and essentially QA them and then fix them.
Here is a list and example of some of the things you may look at for each website:
Look for responsive issues and then fix them.
Test form submissions to ensure they submit without error.
Look for obvious design issues such as broken images and broken elements and then resolve
You’ll be working entirely in WordPress, and mostly looking over and editing such websites. Sometimes you’ll QA, sometimes you’ll develop (front-end), sometimes you’ll do both. You should be comfortable with everything that is listed above in the examples of work. The page builders that are mostly used are Visual Composer and Elementor.
You’ll interact every day with our lead developer. He will assign 6-8 websites each day for you to work on. Once completed he may assign random tasks on other websites as well. You will report what was broken and what was resolved for each website. This will notify the Account Manager so that they can notify the client.
Possess (these traits) for Success
While this list isn’t entirely comprehensive, these things are pretty important to us:
You should know WordPress like the back of your hand. And the front of your hand. And the gap between your fingers.
A great eye for visual design, and a great instinct for UI best practices.
Experience in developing responsive websites using industry-standards.
Strong knowledge of HTML & CSS, and best practices.
Working knowledge of PHP, Javascript, particularly as it pertains to WordPress.
Familiarity with responsive frameworks, like Bootstrap.
Experience working with popular WordPress page builders, particularly Visual Composer and Elementor.
Strong writing skills to report what you found and what you fixed for each site.
We need someone who knows what they’re doing, is able to work independently, take responsibility, and solve problems (even super weird ones). In terms of years of experience, we’re looking for more than 3, but less than 500.
We welcome applicants from around the world, but you have to be willing to work hours that have at least a partial overlap with normal business hours in MST of the US time zone.
