Senior Joomla Developer

The Orbis Group has an exciting role available for a highly experienced Senior Joomla Developer to work on an exciting and diverse portfolio of international client projects across a broad range of industries and platform types, including mobile friendly e-Commerce, Business to Business and Business to Customer websites and applications.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be heavily involved in technical decision making and working with the front-end design and development team for project delivery.

This will be a multi discipline strategic role, which will include working with a wide range of industries from hospitality to manufacturing, franchising through to commerce. The successful applicant will be working as the Lead web developer within our studios on website and application implementations & support.

This role requires someone with strong technical background experience in LAMP stack frameworks with additional strengths in Java. A good eye for UI & workflow design will be highly regarded. As well as your technical strengths, you will need to have an understanding of how to engage with a variety of stakeholders across the business and have strong interpersonal qualities to achieve world's best practice outcomes.


Roles & Responsibilities
As a vital part of the senior management team, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working closely with key stakeholders including Project Managers, Developers, Designers and other technical staff as well as project planning and strategic planning for website development.

You must posses a great attitude to handle the challenges associated with a fast paced web development environment. Your excellent English communication skills must also allow you to quickly grasp concepts and communicate them to the team. Attitude and communication skills are crucial to the role.

Key Responsibilities
Take on the role of Technical Lead: have enviable code-cutting skills but also be able to mentor and lead from the front.
Have some interaction with our international clients to understand technical requirements and then translate these into product architecture.
Recommending information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating the organization’s outcome, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.
Lead project research, analyze key requirements, assess mission critical details, and make appropriate technical recommendations to suit project needs.
Help to decide upon technical strategy and technology choice through R&D and prototyping.
Work heavily with Open Source technologies but be quick to suggest other technologies that would work better.
Take ownership of internal code QA controls and processes as well as working with the project team to implement change integration and source control.
Assist Project Managers to prepare time and budget estimates.
Assist with managing studio workload and provide project progress reports in production meetings.
Managing existing developments and projects.
Working not just as a team player, but a leader who is focused on client outcomes and results.
Working with management to raise the level and enhance company IP and Standards.
Organizing & managing your team of talented Developers.
Training & developing training resources for your Development Team members in the use of new systems.
Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, and Capabilities

As the Senior Web Developer in a dynamic team, you will have:
A minimum of 10 years proven commercial experience.
2-5 year’s experience in a similar role.
An advanced knowledge of PHP.
Extensive back-end development experience.
Strong front-end experience in CSS/CSS3/HTML/HTML5/MVC.
Solid experience in Javascript and JQuery/XML/JSON.
Bootstrap experience is essential.
Wide-ranging experience across a broad range of CMS platforms and frameworks with a heavy slant on Open Source solutions such as Drupal/Joomla/Wordpress/Magento & other platforms.
Experience using GIT.
Experience preparing Technical & Functional Requirements documentation, wire frame diagrams, Gantt charts and other project planning related documentation as necessary.
Be able to interpret and follow documentation and procedures and help improve them from time to time.
Excellent English communication skills.

Communicate well and articulate complex ideas with other team members.
