Transcriptionist

Job Description:

The transcriptionist is primarily responsible for transcribing video content to be posted on www.matthewiwama.com and distributed across various media platforms, including YouTube and Wistia. The content being produced is technical and primarily centered around topics around Canadian immigration law.

The transcriptionist is responsible for performing the following tasks:

- Watching edited video content (ranging from 2 min – 15 min) and creating interpretive transcriptions
- Taking transcriptions and formatting them into sections, including relevant headings and sub-headings to be used in blog posts and YouTube descriptions
- Finding mentioned links and resources and adding them to the written content as necessary
- Submitting draft transcription/summaries/posts for review and then posting them in Wordpress and YouTube as well as formatting them to be read-able and usable
- Listening to audio recordings and converting them into rough written blog posts to be later edited by author
- Once edited, posting them in Wordpress and YouTube according to a standardized format.

Requirements:

- At least 3 years of Transcription Experience
- Ability to quickly understand technical aspects in context and produce useful summaries and transcriptions, including headings and sub-headings
- Strong knowledge of the English language
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
- Basic knowledge of Wordpress

Communication:
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English in both written and spoken form
- Must be willing to use Trello, Dropbox and Skype for Project Management
- Must be willing to work during Pacific Standard Time (Vancouver, Canada) as needed

Terms of Employment
- Contract, Permanent Position
- Minimum of 20 hours per week
- For the right person with other skill set such as Social Media Management and Writing, we can offer a full-time monthly salary.
