Are you an awesome WordPress Developer? Let’s talk!
We’re looking for someone to join our team who is an expert in WordPress development. Someone who can build and maintain sites, create plugins from scratch, and handle a little server management.
We are not just looking for just any VA to fill this role. We’re looking for someone special who loves to learn, solve problems, and work towards a greater goal.
As you review the job description below, please know that we welcome any questions you may have about the position or our team!
This posting is for an audition. We will be selecting 3 candidates to hire for a test project. After seeing your work and then conducting a short, follow up interview, we’ll choose the new person for our team!
POSITION OVERVIEW
Your role will be to help me with web development tasks that need to be done for clients, assisting me once in a while with a computer repair education website I own, and the one I'm most excited for - building and maintaining websites for a new local lead generation business I'm starting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
Sending me a daily report.
Creating new websites with WordPress, often utilizing the Enfold theme.
Maintaining existing websites, ensuring they are operable, plugins are up to date, and the sites are secure.
Helping my client improve the functionality of their learning management system, using LearnDash.
Optimizing the speed of websites utilizing best practices.
Editing written content and images for a client's website in order to rank higher in Google (don't worry, you're not required to write the content - you'll get the edits from me or a writer).
Developing new WooCommerce stores for the golf industry - this will be a fun project for a friend/client.
Creating new lead generation websites around the United States for home service and construction companies. We're going to get this down to a science - we'll build a process to quickly replicate websites for new cities and niches. You'll follow the process to create new websites, suggest ideas to make the process better, and maintain the websites.
Maintaining web servers, setting up
A few administrative tasks once in a while, like answering
REQUIREMENTS
To quality for the position, you need at least 3 years of experience with the following:
WordPress - all of the websites I manage are in WordPress, so you should be very familiar with adding pages, editing content, adding plugins, etc.
Web Design - you should be highly proficient with CSS and be able to look at a PSD mockup and make the page pretty much pixel perfect. Again, these websites are in WordPress, so you should be comfortable working with child themes. I primarily use Enfold, a responsive drag-and-drop theme and builder.
Web Development - you should have the skills and experience to do PHP/MySQL code and do more customized work, like creating WordPress plugins, or customizing an existing
English Language - ideally you're fluent in English but I can be lenient on this. At the end of the day, we need to understand each other and language can't be a barrier. You won't be talking to clients, just me.
We work in a fast paced industry, so it’s really important that you:
Are a fast learner
Pay close attention to detail
Follow exact instructions
In addition to having excellent English skills, you’ll need to use the applications we listed below. You don’t need to be an expert in all of them, but you need to be at least familiar with most of them:
WordPress, Enfold theme/builder, LearnDash LMS plugin, WooCommerce, gAppointments plugin, iThemes Security
WPX Hosting, Godaddy, NameCheap
Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools (Search Console), Google My Business
GitHub, Cloudflare, Twilio, Zapier
Basecamp, Zoom, Slack, Trello
WORK SCHEDULE & HOLIDAYS
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You can work your regular working hours if you prefer (i.e. 9am-5pm). I am on Central Time and probably about 13 hours behind you. But I do NOT need you to work U.S. hours. I don't think that's healthy. Work normal hours and have time for your family. This also means I don't really care when in the day you work, as long as you put in the hours and complete your work.
This is a salaried position. You will receive paid time off for holidays (we honor most Filipino holidays).
You will qualify for and accrue vacation/sick days after the initial probation period.
