FULL TIME WRITER NEEDED

Join the editorial team of a fast paced American news company that will work during Wednesday to Sunday at 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.

Build your career by writing quality articles for our online newspaper.

We need SERIOUS writers who can provide the HIGHEST quality of writing in fluent American style English. We also need writers who know how to get traffic using SEO and keywords.

Someone who has studied in America or attended an international school in the Philippines with American English will be given higher priority. Poorly written articles will not be accepted or published by our site. Do not apply if you are not 100% sure of your writing. Plagiarism is ABSOLUTELY NOT tolerated. Writers who get caught for plagiarism will not be given a second chance.

Your responsibilities as a FULL TIME writer is to:

- Must be able to write 5 well written articles per day - if they write more, then they can get more traffic, which will allow them to get bonuses
- Minimum 300 words per news article
-Minimum 7 items per creative list
-Minimum 7 photos for photo slides

Writer should meet the following standards:

a. AP style

b. Music news leads
i. Should contain the main news angle and the date the news occurred
ii. Not quirky blog-style leads or prose

c. Inverted pyramid
i. The newest, most important information should come first in the article
ii. Background facts, unless they are essential to understanding the new update, should be included later in the article

d. Proper citation for exclusive quotes/facts.
i. Reporters should be able to distinguish between what is common or public knowledge and what is exclusive to a particular publication. Quotes and/or information that were originally from a press release should not be attributed to a publication. Please do your research and check the original source of quotes/information for your story.

e. Accurate facts
i. Any names, dates, locations reported in the article should be accurate

f. No plagiarism
i. Do not base your article on another article and simply rearrange the paragraphs. Even in the case where there is only one article as the main source, other supplementary or background information can be added to make the article your own.
ii. Your article should be written in your own words with multiple sources.

g. At least 300 words. Typical articles should be 300-500 words, with features between 500 – 1500 words long.
i. All articles should be at least 300 words long. Articles with less than 300 words will have content that is too short to be crawled properly by Google.
ii. The only case where it is acceptable to have an article with less than 300 words (at least 150 words) is when it is reported within 10-15 minutes of big breaking news such as a natural disaster or the death of a prominent person. In that situation, the reporter should immediately report on the breaking news to get the initial article out and then write a more lengthy article as a follow-up.

We don't focus on any heavy topics or politics. Our news is generally more on the light side. Topics that can bring traffic.

Compensation:

-Starting payment is $3.50 per article published.
-If the writer surpasses the minimum monthly traffic goal, he or she will receive a bonus. The more traffic you bring, the more $ you will be rewarded.
