JOB OVERVIEW

As a Network Engineer you are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. This includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

Job Duties:
• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of computer networks:
o Network monitoring
o Testing the network for weakness
o Applying updates
o Network address assignment
o Assigning routing protocols

• Organize, install, and support an organization’s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
• Make sure that servers and employees’ workstations are working efficiently and stay connected to the computer ---------- some cases, help network architects design and analyze network models:
o Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
o Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
o Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
o Participate in decisions about buying future hardware or software to upgrade their organization’s network. 
• Installing and implementing security programs such as E-mail and Internet filters.
• Maintenance of network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers & printers.
• Maintenance of certain network servers, file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
• Responsible for the security of the network and for assigning IP addresses to the devices connected to the networks.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in Computer Science or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis for up two years.
• Up to 5 years of full-time, progressively responsible experience in network architecture, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance with a variety of converged network projects
• Experience building networks for WAN, LAN and or Network Security
• Demonstrated experience using Packet capture tools and monitoring tools
• Experience with Windows Server operating system.
• Knowledge and experience working with carriers to implement MPLS, PRI, SIP and data circuit installations.
• Candidate must have experience working with firewall and VPN technology.
• Experience working with and implementing Cisco, Fortinet Firewall and Ruckus Wireless equipment preferred
