Designer for paint by numbers images

The person we hire will receive high-definition source images and will be required to turn them into paint by numbers designs, ready to manufacture by a specialized factory.

We are starting a new brand of paint by number kits. The essential part of this kit is the image and the way it is transformed from a photograph or graphic with thousands of details and thousands of colors into one that only has 24-36 colors and much less detail. There are software tools that help, and there is also the skill of the designer that makes this transition while preserving the spirit and the beauty of the original image.

We don't have technical experience with this process so we are looking for someone who has done it before and can advise on the tools we need to buy and the process we need to put in place.

We have a high investment and big plans with our brand, so we see this as a long-term position where the benefits will grow in sync with our success. If the brand prospers with the help of your continuous hard work, you will get raises and bonuses. The person we hire now, if willing, will be able to take on more responsibilities as we evolve.

As part of your application, please clarify your relevant previous experience. Don't just list a position, write a paragraph or two explaining what you did personally and how that makes you a great match for this position. Highlight the process and tools we would need to provide you in order to be successful in the position. Also please attach at least one sample design. Feel free to make it unusable by removing key parts, but it has to contain clearly
- a source image (or a fragment)
- the same image, reduced to a limited number of colors and much less details
- a map of the color zones, with the numbers of the colors that go in each zone
- a list of the colors used and their numbers

We are requiring 40 hours of work per week on a flexible schedule - there are no fixed start and stop times. We pay weekly for the week before. Days off are no problem but we ask you to announce in advance and to be mindful of important deadlines. We will understand if you need a couple of hours in the first weeks to tie up things from a previous job, but we require all your focus and energy - you can't work another job in parallel.
