Web Developer

We are looking for an experienced website developer to join our small friendly team. This is a long-term position. The role requires you to be a tech-savvy, user focused collaborator with a passion for providing every visitor with an exceptional website experience.

Key responsibilities:
• Management, extension, and continuous improvement of existing Joomla website
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
• Continuous improvement of layout/user interface using standard HTML/CSS practices
• Work closely and cooperate with team to match visual design intent
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Provide realistic time frames for completion of development tasks
• Research different software programs, create and maintain software documentation
• Implement contingency plans in case the website goes down
• Maintain, enhance and scale our website
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities

Minimum Requirements
Although there are no formal educational requirements for this position experience in the field is essential. Knowledge in the following is required:
• Proven experience using Joomla
• Proven working experience in web programming
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with server-side frameworks such as php, Java, ASP, etc
• Experience with SQL database system
• A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems and web application development
• Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools
• A ‘give all’ approach to problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (not essential)
• Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation process

• Stable internet connection of at least 1 MB/s and a backup plan
• Up to date functional computer system
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong communication skills
