You’ll be part of a team of craftsmen and storytellers. We have an established track record in public communications. And we have a vision - to create meaningful media that informs, educates and engages the public on national issues.
We’re not just about infographics. Our team writes articles, covers events, conceptualises microsites and makes videos.
We’re looking for Information designers who enjoy using their analytical mind, layout and illustration skills, and creativity to transform unstructured ideas into concrete, meaningful stories. Stories that inform, educate, engage and delight readers.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Understand and discuss client briefs with team
- Read/research to understand brief fully and in detail
- Suggest art direction to achieve communication/brand objectives
- Sketch layouts and ideas quickly with client/team
- Create storyboards to enable client/team to visualise the end result
- Layout text and images and illustrations
- Source and select photos, icons and artwork
- Create illustrations and icons from scratch
- Trim, improve, tweak the copy with the copywriter
- Compose single and multipage static infographics
- Make multiple revisions based on client/team feedback
- Tweak, refine, polish the artwork
SUPER POWERS
The first superpower you will need to do well in this job is fast tool speed. You need to be able work quickly in Photoshop or Illustrator using shortcuts and macros. You’ll be expected to turn around work quickly. And also work while directed by the Creative Director, Art Director or Managing Editor.
The second is grit to do great work. Experienced, you should have already developed a level of discipline, drive, stamina and patience to create, iterate, revise, re-create. Over the years, instead of inventing "ways to get away with fewer revisions", you thrive on feedback and revisions as opportunities to master your skills and become more confident as an individual and a designer.
