About Us:
- We are a small Canadian Web Design & SEO company.
- Although we work with all industries, we specialize in designing and building websites for medical clinics & dental offices.
- We're trying to increase our workflow by adding a member to our development team.
- We take PSD designs, convert them into responsive WordPress themes, and then edit those themes to suit our clients.
Our Sites:
Our sites have a lot of common elements and similar patterns - so we keep a growing list of WordPress plugins and code snippets that we use frequently.
A key selling feature for all of our sites is responsiveness. Our sites need to work on browsers of all shapes and sizes, adapting as necessary.
Your Role:
Your primary role will be converting PSD designs into responsive HTML/CSS.
Our goal is to make the WordPress end of our sites as simple as possible (another developer will be working on that), however any WordPress skills that you can bring to the table (theme development, plugin development, or even just WordPress administration) will not be overlooked.
A key component of your role will be ensuring that the site is responsive for all media types and sizes - using different responsive techniques that are suited to the project.
Although we're flexible to new ideas, we're looking for someone who is willing to learn our methods and expectations, and follow our guidance when it comes to what we're looking for - and help make our projects run as quickly and smoothly as possible.
And, as needed, we'll probably ask you to just generally help with whatever it might take to get our sites launched (ie: WordPress administration, etc.)
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about the job - we understand that if you're going to put some time into getting this job, you should be sure you want it.
A Test:
We've prepared a PSD mockup for you to convert to HTML/CSS.
The PSD can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i07qiu23yvxm3hz/cbss.psd?dl=0
- You can send us the site using whatever method is easiest for you (zip file, URL we can visit, etc).
- Don't worry too much about being pixel-perfect. Nice, clean, semantic HTML & CSS are more important.
- That would probably be a big slider at the top, but you can code it as just a big image.
- If we decide to work with you, we'll be happy to hear your input on making our PSD easier to work with (we realize there are a couple things that could be better on this one).
- Responsiveness is very important to us, so make sure the site works on smaller browsers.
- Feel free to arrange or hide elements in your responsive stylesheets. Even if you don't responsify every last detail on every size - try to make sure we know you understand how to use media queries.
- We'd like to see at least a "mobile phone" sized layout, as well as the full-layout.
- We generally use some sort of CSS Reset and Grid as a starting point, we would encourage you to do the same.
- Feel free to give us notes to go along if there are things that you weren't sure of, or decisions you would like to justify. We will read and consider them carefully.
- Clearly not all of our sites will be about topics as interesting as this one, so enjoy the Bulldogs.
- Remember: There's not necessarily any right or wrong, but we might ask you why you did what you did.
