Senior Web Developer

The Alternative Daily ( ---------- ) is a book and information publisher based in Florida, USA. We are very focused on direct response marketing, selling millions of books per year.

This is a full-time contract ---------- ndidate must be available to work regular US East Coast hours, i.e., 8 hours in the range between 9 AM - 6 PM Florida time.

Pay will be competitive with candidate’s experience.

Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility in two areas:
1) The creation and maintenance of secure internal information systems - particularly focused on product sales; customer portal; and inventory management.
2) PHP and API expertise to create improved experiences for buyers, including UltraCart and Woo Commerce shopping carts.

Skills/Qualifications:

• 5+ years web development experience, including working on higher volume, secure back-end systems
• Very strong database design expertise, including database tuning / optimization
• Excellence in HTML, JSON, CSS, Javascript
• Proficiency with responsive web design techniques and the use of frameworks
• Fluency in English
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality in a timely fashion
• Experience working in a remote environment
• Ready to go with a high end computer and excellent / redundant Internet connection

Plus:
• Experience deploying systems to the cloud (eg., Amazon AWS, Google Cloud)
