#BeMe online mentoring?



#BeMe online mentoring is a supportive, structured relationship between a Mentor (Women in Tech) and Mentee (BME Girl) which helps mentees to develop their skills and achieve their goals in Science Technology Engineering Math.



What it will look like:


Mentees - communicate with their mentor through a safe and secure online platform, and the mentoring relationship is supported by a wide range of online resources and activities relating to Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) career pathways

Mentors – BME Women in Technology roles

Mentee – BME Girls



This project matches young BME GIRLS AGES 14-19, who are about to choose their option in KS3/KS4, with a BME women mentor who is currently working in Technology STEM career who can give them an insight into route into STEM opportunities/education and provide advice and guidance relating to STEM, career and education pathways, and skills development.


Who is involved? Academy Achievers will coordinate the online mentoring project as part of selecting Mentee and Mentors. They are the key point of contact for BME girls and mentors taking part.

Academy Achievers will help BME girls make confident and informed decisions. Academy Achievers will provide a safe online platform and work closely with the partner organisation to deliver mentoring projects.

The role of a mentor involves answering questions about STEM education, careers and skills, drawing on their own experience to help inform BME girls. All mentors undergo a rigorous and thorough recruitment and selection process. All mentors receive training and are supported by Academy Achievers throughout the project Online platform.

Academy Achievers websites comply with the latest data protection regulations.

We would like all messages, URLs and attachments sent over our website to be visible to and monitored by the mentoring coordinator In order to use the online mentoring service, BME girls must be registered with Academy Achievers and they must have a unique username and password


We may need to think about GEO location - we can develop on this.


I would like the online mentoring platform to have a security certificate which is a secure site.

All users communications must be between a mentor and a mentee - this must only take place through the Academy Achievers website

Face to face (Avatar using facial recognition - where girls can use different props to create their mentor i.e. eyebrow shape, colour lipsticks, hair type and texture, facial colour and and different skin tones. Any face to face meet up will only be organised by the mentoring coordinator via Academy Achievers.

Looking after mentees and their data Academy Achievers and its partners respect users’ privacy and recognise the importance of protecting the information collected about them. All parties are contractually obliged to keep users’ personal data secure and confidential. The mentoring relationship is confidential. However, should the mentor consider that their mentee is at risk of being harmed or harming others, the mentor is obliged to pass this information to the mentoring coordinator and Academy Achievers to take appropriate ---------- order to improve users’ experience and future mentoring projects, Academy Achievers staff members may approach some mentees to receive their feedback and insights about the project they participated in to use for case studies and marketing material.
