Senior Mining Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

The position is responsible for the achievement of required mineral production in a given site
This will include managing and leading teams in the territory through working with the work force with good collaboration using coaching, influencing skills, training and demonstrating strong leadership at site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mining engineers design and create systems that are used to locate, extract, and transport natural resources. They develop and design new mining equipment and make sure that the mining procedures used are safe and efficient. Increasingly, mining engineers focus their attention on creating mining equipment and techniques that are as friendly to the environment as possible.

Ensure that Operations Foremen are satisfactorily informed with regard to short and medium term needs to execute the mine plan, including maintaining a suitable 'go to' engineer for all areas - production, ore and wall control, survey, drill and blast, planning, tunnel design, etc;

Establish weekly and four-weekly schedules highlighting key activities and milestones. Coordinate the Department plans to ensure compatibility and suitable contingencies to achieve safe production targets;
